This private residence actually started as two houses which were converted into a single dwelling. A new basement level was also added under the existing lower-ground floor. A particular feature of the house is the curved steel stair suspended in the central atrium, itself topped by a glazed roof. The front elevation of the houses maintained the original period appearance while the internal space was carved open with a full width, double-height space to the rear and a pair of contemporary structural glass extensions facing the landscaped garden.
